Upgrades To The Connext® Touch Screen Display

All FX models now feature a new seven-inch Connext® touchscreen with Enhanced Safety and Driving Control Modes, including Economy, Towing, Performance, Comfort, and Customizable Driving Modes.

This interactive hub offers seamless access to navigation, entertainment, and important boat information, increasing comfort and connectivity during every journey. The New HO Marine Engine

Power and performance are at the heart of the WaveRunner range, which is equipped with Yamaha’s latest High Output (HO) marine engines.

The HO engine delivers impressive power and industry-leading top speed, allowing riders to experience the ultimate adrenaline rush on the water. It is available on the GP HO, FX Cruiser HO, FX HO, and VX Cruiser HO.

Take Control With The RiDE® Dual Throttle Control System

Yamaha’s award-winning RiDE® system continues to provide an exciting riding experience and is standard across the range, except SuperJet. This system offers intuitive and easy boat control.

With forward and reverse functions at their fingertips, riders can easily maneuver and navigate through tight spaces to dock and land without any problems.

2024 Yamaha WaveRunner Engine:

With such a reliable engine, the most exciting novelty this year is undoubtedly the new Yamaha HO 1.9L marine engine. This redesigned, larger-capacity engine with 200hp replaces its proven predecessor, the 1.8L with 180hp.

We like the significant improvements of this new machine, including:

  • Larger capacity (+ 86cc)
  • Higher compression ratio
  • Gain 20hp
  • Less tight air intake system
  • The cylinder head, gas valve body, and exhaust manifold were redesigned
  • Improved cooling system
  • Updated camshaft

Kemi rates this purpose-built Yamaha 4-stroke, 16-valve, in-line 4-cylinder, naturally aspirated marine engine as having an incredible capacity of 1.9 L (1898 cc) and producing 200 hp.

In contrast, the largest power sources from competing manufacturers are Sea-Doo’s Rotax triple 1630 cc engine and Kawasaki’s 1498 cc 4-cylinder Jet Ski engine.

The new Yamaha engine is equipped with an updated intake grate and a new overlap impeller embedded in a high-performance 155 mm jet pump.

These improvements, combined with greater engine power, ensure a higher top speed and faster acceleration. This machine also offers a smoother engine speed and runs at any engine speed.

The redesigned 1.9L HO engine and advanced impeller are standard on five non-supercharged WaveRunner HO (High-Output) models, including:

  1. VX Cruiser HO
  2. VX Limited HO
  3. GP HO
  4. FX HO
  5. FX Cruiser HO

2024 Yamaha WaveRunner Lineup Models

2024 Yamaha EX Line

Yamaha has introduced significant changes by classifying it as a “Rec-Lite” model. It is marketing these entry-level WaveRunners for $7,799-$10,799. Each EX model has the same hull and fuel-efficient 4-stroke, 1,049 cc, DOHC, three-cylinder TR-1 marine engine rated at 100 hp.

The prices of these affordable WaveRunners have uniformly increased by $200 for this season:

  • 2024 Yamaha EX: $7,799
  • 2024 Yamaha EX Sport: $9,099
  • 2024 Yamaha EX Deluxe: $10,199
  • 2024 Yamaha EX Limited: $10,799

2024 Yamaha Freestyle WaveRunners

Yamaha is marketing the WaveRunner “Freestyle” concept in this model, where the JetBlaster is actually an EX with a few extra ponies and a Spark TRIXX accessory package. Although this ski produces 10hp more than the standard EX model, it is much bulkier and less responsive than the classic WaveBlaster series. You can get a JetBlaster for $10,899 this year, while the popular SuperJet 4-stroke is available for $10,699.

Regarding power sources, both freestyle WaveRunners borrow the TR-1 marine engine from the EX series.

2024 Yamaha VX Series

Then this model is the best-selling WaveRunner in its class. It is the right choice for you. This “Recreational” WaveRunner model comes with a larger body, reasonable capacity, and a very reliable naturally aspirated engine option. You can expect the starting price for the 2024 Yamaha VX WaveRunner to range from $10,199 to $15,299.

The cheapest VX WaveRunner currently is the modest VX-C ($10,199) designed with rental companies in mind.

This model, like the base VX, VX Deluxe, and VX Limited, is designed with a TR-1 1049cc, 4-stroke, 3-cylinder engine rated at 125hp. (This is the same triple engine you’ll find in the EX and Freestyle series, only tuned to produce 125hp.)

In contrast, the High Output VX WaveRunner, including the VX Cruiser HO and VX Limited HO, enjoys a beefed-up 1.9L, inline-4 engine rated at 200hp. Each of these VX modes can accommodate the Rec Deck accessory platform, which is virtually the Japanese equivalent of the Sea-Doo LinQ system. The latest VX WaveRunner models and starting prices are as follows:

  • 2024 VX-C: $10,199 (for rent)
  • 2024 VX: $11,399
  • 2024 VX Deluxe: $12,399
  • 2024 VX Cruiser: $12,799
  • 2024 VX Cruiser HO: $13,299
  • 2024 VX Limited: $13,699
  • 2024 VX Limited HO: $14,049

2024 Yamaha GP Line

This Lineup model is the first to come with a naturally aspirated High-Output (HO) power source, which now takes the form of an updated 1.9L 200hp engine. As reported by Watercraft Journal, this engine pushed the 2024 GP HO to a GPS-measured 62-63 mph, which is probably a bit higher on the speedometer.

To the greatest delight of many performance-minded buyers, the GP HO inherits the features of the GP SVHO, including an automatic trim system and launch control.

This ski is available for $14,499, while its price tag for 2023 is $14,199. This means that for $300, we get a more powerful 1.9L, 200hp engine, a slightly upgraded propulsion system, and the SVHO above features.

Sounds like a great deal!

Unlike its smaller sibling, the supercharged GP SVHO has few changes for this season except for a new name and color scheme. The price has been increased by $300, resulting in a suggested retail price of $16,799.

2024 Yamaha FX Line

The final model is the luxury FX WaveRunners, offered for $15,699-$20,399. Marketed as naturally-aspirated models of this type, the FX HO and FX Cruiser HO now use an upgraded 1.9L HO engine rated at 200hp. This ski’s top speed is also 62-63 mph on GPS, which is most likely 64-65 mph on the speedometer.

The more advanced FX SVHO line still has the proven 1.8L supercharged and 250hp engine options. These models include the FX SVHO, FX Cruiser SVHO, and the flagship FX Limited SVHO.

This ski’s top speed is uniformly a (limited) 67 mph. In addition to the larger engine on the HO model, every WaveRunner FX is equipped with a 7-inch Connext touchscreen as standard. (Last season’s HO model used a smaller 5-inch version.)

This innovative display provides a wealth of information and allows you to customize your journey. Listing all the features of the Connext screen is almost impossible, but the most important ones are as follows:

  • Displays security modes and functions
  • Bluetooth smartphone connectivity
  • GPS mapping
  • Improved drive control function
  • Audio connectivity
  • And much more

What’s more, every FX WaveRunner (except the FX HO) comes standard with a factory-assembled audio system, whose features are as follows:

  • Easy-to-use control board
  • 4.5” waterproof speaker
  • Integrated amplifier
  • Battery protection (low voltage regulator)

The available 2024 WaveRunner FX lineup includes:

  • FX HO 2024: $15,699 (up $300)
  • 2024 FX Cruiser HO: $16,999 (up $300)
  • SVHO FX 2024: $18,899 (up: $299)
  • 2024 FX Cruiser SVHO: $19,399 (up $400)
  • 2024 FX Limited SVHO: $20,399 (up $400)

Last year, we saw massive price increases of $1,000-$2,000 in this class, but prices for the 2024 WaveRunner FW only increased by $300-$400. Even so, the starting price of the high-end FX Limited SVHO exceeds the psychological price barrier of $20,000.
