The best sellers in the industry, the best performers, return in 2020 with improved intake grilles and racing trays designed for a clearer and predictable handling in raw water. The new intake grid has a blade that feeds the water to the upper end of the turbine to improve the traction of the propeller and keep the pump plugged in to maintain maximum thrust during firing and in raw water. The new driving plate designed for the race is longer to reduce the arc lift when accelerating quickly. The planning surface is slightly tilted for the right amount of rocker to give the GP1800R the correct driving attitude for optimal maximum speed. In addition, the edges of the planning surface help the GP1800R to track more directly at higher speeds.
By 2020, Yamaha takes the VXR to the next level with performance improvements similar to the intake grid and bearing plate, such as the GP1800R, in addition to adding a NanoXcel 2 tire that drastically reduces the total weight.
“With the performance improvements of 2020, we took designs that have been tested on the track by the best riders in the world and we have done something that customers can take out of the box,” Watkins said. “The result is a new character for these WaveRunners, as runners and those traveling for pleasure will find the desire to experience ultra high performance in the water with incredible maneuverability.”
