The hull of the Yamaha FX cruiser SVHO is playful and maneuverable, but perhaps not quite the same as some shorter hulls I’ve ridden. The acceleration is exceptional over very short distances, which means turning hard and squeezing the choke can produce some intoxicating riding. Slightly more than 3.5 meters long, there is obviously some weight and length to push around, but the engine handles it well.
The new lighter NanoXcel 2 Hull does not quite respond as well as say the shorter VXR to shifts in weight. The FX cruiser however has a predictable twist with the speed while a leaning on the outside of the craft during the cornering will provide some support when turning hard. It is the best way to make your line and power out of a corner without sliding. The nozzle nozzle can be trimmed to five sets of positions. By trimming it right down and at the same time bending over the handle bars, you can slide the tail around but it takes a little effort and requires some skill or at least getting used to the craft.
It cuts through chops well, again courtesy of the length, so this is a hull excellent for open water and harsh conditions and family riding where comfort is preferred over flat out speed. This craft also comes with the new Yamaha ride system, which integrates a brake on the left handlebar that brings you to a halt in a short space and predictable way. The ride system also gives you reverse and neutral, which makes the craft easier to maneuver at slow speeds.
